UC San Diego welcomes our new first-year transfer students to STEP into 2024!
The Summer Transfer Enrichment Program (STEP) prepares incoming Triton Transfers for success in their transfer to UCSD. This program designed exclusively for incoming transfer students by providing a variety ways they can connect with information, resources, and each other, all before stepping onto campus for the first time in September.
STEP into 2024 enables you as an incoming transfer student to participate on your terms when works for you. We know transfer students come in with a variety of needs, so we allow you build out a summer schedule that works best for you. Although we hope to see you at every opportunity, you can participate in any - or all - steps along the way, or tap into the recordings at a later time.

STEP 1: Transfer Talks
Virtual presentations led by campus experts on a variety of topics that we know you need to know before your fall 2024 start!
STEP 2: Transfers Connect
Taking place in 2 parts- Part 1: community-based connection, which will focus to connect folks with shared identities. Part 2: topic focused connection, facilitated by your Transfer Peer Coaches within the Triton Transfer Hub, these monthly hangouts will be offered both in-person as well as online.
STEP 3: Research & Involvement Series
Learn the tools to find research labs, experiential learning opportunities, learn about faculty outreach, and build your resume so you have a starting point as soon as resources become available to you.

First-generation college transfer students who promise to participate in STEP into 2023 have the opporutnity to continue exclusive events and peer coaching all throughout the 2022-2023 academic year!

Why should you participate?
By participating in the steps of STEP into 2024, first-year transfer students will be able to:
- Make a successful transition from community college by celebrating their lived experiences, wealth of knowledge and skills sets.
- Identify campus resources specific to their needs.
- Discover how to find various research and involvement opportunities
- Establish a strong sense of belonging by developing a social network with peers, faculty and staff.

- Get a jump start on your UCSD experience!
- Gain research experience and mentorship.
- Meet fellow transfer students like yourself.
- Connect with resources early.
- Get your questions answered.
Missed a STEP?
We got you covered, sessions (excluding connect- due to their social nature) will be recorded and uploaded here the following day.
BONUS: Celebrate at STEP Welcome Day
Any individual who took part in STEP into 2024 will have the chance to join us for STEP Welcome Day on Wednesday, September 25. This will be an exclusive in-person opportunity to meet others who have STEPPED into the year with you, and a chance to meet a community of like-minded transfer students.
