About Jay Gima

Hello, my name is Jay, and my pronouns are he/him. I transferred to UC San Diego from Diablo Valley College in the Bay Area and am currently a senior majoring in Political Science. Before transferring, I was actively involved in student leadership by serving in student government and founding the South Asian Student Alliance, where I worked with fellow students to create cultural events and build a stronger sense of community on campus. After transferring to UCSD, I continued getting involved by serving on the Student Fee Advisory Committee, joining TamashaSD, and serving as the new Transfer Senator for the Associated Students of UC San Diego for the 2026 to 2027 academic year. Through these experiences, I have enjoyed advocating for students, collaborating with campus organizations, and helping create meaningful experiences for the transfer community.

Outside of school, I enjoy playing basketball, traveling, trying new food spots around San Diego, and spending time with friends. My favorite place to eat on campus is Tahini because it is my go to spot whenever I am craving a good Mediterranean meal. I am excited to meet new transfer students, help them navigate life at UC San Diego, and make the most of their transfer experience.
