A Paper Folded A Thousand Ways

this is an image os a crinkled up paper with a tear at the bottom

A paper folded a 1,000 ways visually demonstrates the journey of many paths that lead to the same destination.

Take note that no line is linear. Most are messy and unclear, just as I and many amongst me feel navigating the beginning of our journey of adulthood and university.

The paper has a tear in it at the bottom to account for my personal story. I didn’t get to have the ideal high school experience, mostly thanks to the COVID lockdown, but also because I ended up graduating shortly after I turned 16.

I feel as if I was torn straight out of childhood and placed into a space where for a while I wasn't quite sure what exactly I was even doing. Taken from one chapter and placed a bit further down in the story.

Perhaps I have a knack for getting things done early, after all, I was born a month and a half prematurely, so it’s not out of character.

This piece furthermore follows the philosophy of hard work to achieve an easy life. It’s the kind of life one is proud of, the kinda life that’s idealized, rather than taking an easy way out and having a hard life, nothing like that one dreamt to have. I’m in university to actualize my dreams, like many amongst me are as well.

It takes hard work to sometimes follow lines through. It takes hard work to find them when faced with a blank in the page. Sometimes lines must be folded into realms no one’s ever found, before they get to become well established paths for those who seek them after.

And in the end, it doesn’t matter which lines you take, for the reason that you’ll regardlessly end up on the same page. Still always bound to yourself for life. It’s theoretically impossible to go on a journey without yourself.
